The largest-ever Maltese business delegation promotes Malta’s property market in Shanghai, China

Malta has mounted its largest overseas business mission to date, with a strong focus on promoting the country as an attractive destination for international property investment.

More than 80 delegates from Malta’s real estate industry travelled to China to take part in the LPS Shanghai Luxury Property Exhibition. The visit was coordinated by the Property Malta Foundation, a public-private initiative dedicated to positioning Malta on the global stage as a premium property investment location.

Addressing attendees at the event, Minister Jonathan Attard underlined Malta’s openness to global investors and its commitment to long-term, sustainable growth. He emphasised the country’s reputation for stability, transparency, and innovation, noting that Malta continues to offer compelling opportunities for those seeking both financial returns and an exceptional lifestyle.

The exhibition, regarded as one of the Asia-Pacific region’s leading showcases for high-end real estate, attracts affluent buyers and investors from across China and beyond. Malta’s presence was further strengthened through collaboration with international partners and high-level diplomatic engagement, including meetings with senior officials in Shanghai.

According to figures cited during the visit, Malta’s property and construction sectors play a significant role in the national economy, contributing close to 14 percent of Gross Value Added when wider economic impacts are considered. Officials also highlighted ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing transparency and professionalism across the industry, including the forthcoming introduction of a Property Price Register and updated regulatory frameworks.

Property Malta Foundation Chairman Sandro Chetcuti described the delegation as a milestone moment, reflecting growing international interest in Malta and the collective effort to build meaningful global relationships.

Malta’s ambassador to China, John Busuttil, also participated in the programme, reinforcing diplomatic and commercial ties between the two countries.
