Property Malta Foundation Supports Malta’s Property Market Outlook Conference & Report
Organised by KPMG with the support of the Property Malta Foundation, Malta’s Property Market Outlook Conference 2023, gathered more than 600 developers, property investors, real estate agents, bankers, legal and architectural professionals, public policy makers and other stakeholders under one roof, to discuss the present realities of the property market in Malta and to chart a way forward for a better tomorrow. The event also included the publication of the annual Construction Industry and Property Market Report 2023, on which much of the discussions were centred.
After delegates were welcomed by David Pace, Head of Advisory at KPMG and Sandro Chetcuti, Chairperson of Property Malta Foundation, a presentation by Steve Stivala, Director, Advisory at KPMG gave a detailed overview of the state of the real estate industry in Malta.
This was followed by the first panel discussion with Pio Vassallo (Group CEO, Vassallo Group), Ray Demicoli (Principal Architect, DeMicoli & Associates), Michael Stivala (President, Malta Development Association) and Melissa Grima (Senior Manager, Advisory, KPMG).
After a short coffee break, another informative presentation titled “Property Price Trends and Housing Affordability”, was delivered by Steve Stivala (Director, Advisory, KPMG) and Rachel Decelis (Associate Director, ESG, KPMG). This was followed by the second panel discussion with Kenneth Farrugia (CEO, Bank of Valletta plc), George Debono (CCO, BNF Bank plc), Michael Bonello (CEO, Alliance Group) and Matthew Zerafa (CEO, Malta Housing Authority).
Melissa Grima (Senior Manager, Advisory, KPMG) delivered the third presentation titled “The Implications of a New Economic Model on the Property Market”, leading to the third panel discussion with Tonio Zarb (Consultant & ex-Senior Partner, KPMG), Alfred Sant (Member of the European Parliament), Gordon Cordina (Chairperson, Bank of Valletta plc) and Sandro Chetcuti (Chairperson, Property Malta).
Following a forward-looking presentation from Steve Ellul (CEO, Project Green) titled “Funding the Green Transition”, the conference was closed by Hon. Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi (Minister of Public Works and Planning). Delegates enjoyed a networking lunch, where more discussion continued.
